Abstract

Esophageal cancer is one of the most common cancers associated with the high mortality rate. Timely diagnosis and treatment are important to manage the disease and prevent comorbidities. Surgical resection of the tumor and lymph nodes is usually practiced either with or without chemo or chemoradiotherapy. Despite advancements in surgical methods and skills, complex nature of the esophagus and invasiveness of the surgery can lead to serious complications in these patients. In order to predict postoperative outcomes, preoperative examination of the patients, in addition to risk factors, should be conducted. : Lastly, early detection of adverse postoperative events may help faster recovery, reduce hospital stay and prevent other morbidities.

摘要

食管癌是最常见的癌症之一,死亡率很高。及时诊断和治疗对于控制病情和预防并发症很重要。肿瘤及淋巴结的手术切除通常在有或没有化疗或放化疗的情况下进行。尽管手术方法和技术有所进步,但食管的复杂性和手术的侵袭性仍可能导致这些患者出现严重并发症。为了预测术后结果,除了风险因素外,还应对患者进行术前检查。最后,早期发现术后不良事件可能有助于更快康复、缩短住院时间并预防其他疾病。
