A 7-year-old boy developed intermittent fever and rashes 2 weeks after anti-lymphocyte globulin therapy for a transplant rejection episode. Dual infection with parvovirus B19 and human herpesvirus type 6 was suggested by serological tests. Neither virus has been reported previously in a symptomatic paediatric renal transplant recipient.
