A novel α-proteobacterium, designated strain S-54, was isolated from forest soil sampled at Kyonggi University and subjected to polyphasic study. Cells were aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, catalase- and oxidase-positive, non-motile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped and yellow-pigmented. Flexirubin-type pigments were absent. Strain S-54 assimilated lactic acid, d-glucose and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid. Strain S-54 tolerated 4 % NaCl (w/v), and grew optimally at 45 °C and pH 10.5. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence data revealed that strain S-54 formed a lineage within the class Alphaproteobacteria of the phylum Proteobacteria that was distinct from various members of the genus Altererythrobacter, including Altererythrobacter troitsensis JCM 17037 (96.8 % sequence similarity), Altererythrobacterxinjiangensis S3-63 (96.6 %), Altererythrobacter dongtanensis KCTC 22672 (96.5 %) and Altererythrobacter mangrovi C9-11 (96.5 %). Q-10 was the sole isoprenoid quinone. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol and sphingoglycolipid. The major cellular fatty acids were C18 : 1ω7c, C16 : 0 and C18 : 1ω7c 11-methyl. The DNA G+C content of strain S-54 was 64.2 mol%. On the basis of the results of phenotypic, genotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analysis, strain S-54 represents a novel species in the genus Altererythrobacter, for which the name Altererythrobacter fulvus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Altererythrobacter fulvus is S-54 (=KEMB 9005-542=KACC 19119=NBRC 112676).
从庆熙大学采集的森林土壤中分离出一株新型α-变形菌,命名为菌株S-54,并对其进行了多相研究。细胞为需氧型,革兰氏染色阴性,过氧化氢酶和氧化酶阳性,无运动性,不形成芽孢,杆状且呈黄色。不存在Flexirubin型色素。菌株S-54能同化乳酸、d-葡萄糖和4-羟基苯甲酸。菌株S-54能耐受4%(w/v)的NaCl,在45℃和pH 10.5条件下生长最佳。基于16S rRNA基因序列数据的系统发育分析表明,菌株S-54在变形菌门的α-变形菌纲内形成了一个分支,与红杆菌属的各种成员不同,包括特罗伊茨红杆菌JCM 17037(序列相似性为96.8%)、新疆红杆菌S3-63(96.6%)、东滩红杆菌KCTC 22672(96.5%)和红树林红杆菌C9-11(96.5%)。泛醌Q-10是唯一的类异戊二烯醌。主要极性脂为磷脂酰乙醇胺、双磷脂酰甘油、磷脂酰甘油和鞘糖脂。主要细胞脂肪酸为C18 : 1ω7c、C16 : 0和C18 : 1ω7c 11-甲基。菌株S-54的DNA G+C含量为64.2 mol%。根据表型、基因型、化学分类和系统发育分析结果,菌株S-54代表红杆菌属中的一个新物种,为此提出新名称黄褐红杆菌(Altererythrobacter fulvus sp. nov.)。黄褐红杆菌的模式菌株为S-54(=KEMB 9005-542=KACC 19119=NBRC 112676)。
