The injection of into CBA mice causes marked changes in the lymphoid tissues including enlargement of the splenic white and red pulp, trapping of red cells, proliferation of phagocytic cells and increased rate of clearance of carbon and bovine albumin. Associated with these changes is a transient anaemia. Evidence for increased phagocytosis of syngeneic red cells and autoantibody formation against red cells in treated mice is presented. The inter-relationship of these phenomena and the role of in their induction are discussed.
