Cyanobacteria are unique prokaryotes, which are capable to perform oxygenic photosynthesis. Within these organisms, phycobilisomes (PBS) act as an antenna of the photosynthetic pigment apparatus. Phycobilisomes contain several phycobiliproteins (PBP): phycoerythrin (PE), phycocyanin (PC), allophycocyanin (APC) and phycoerythrocyanin (PEC). The application of phycobiliproteins in the biotechnology, food industry and medicine during the last years is rapidly increasing. The aim of our study was to assess the qualitative and quantitative content of phycoerythrin, phycocyanin, allophycocyanin and phycoerythrocyanin in 14 cyanobacterial strains kept in Plovdiv Algal Culture Collection (PACC) and 4 strains purchased from the Culture Collection of Autotrophic Organisms (CCALA). Our data demonstrated that three strains of (PACC 5505, PACC 5522 and PACC 5527) have high potential to produce phycoerythrins (0.132, 0.201 and 0.136 mg/mL, respectively). Similarly, one strain (PACC 5522) and one strain of (CCALA 084) are suitable for biotechnological production of phycocyanins (0.051 and 0.264 mg/mL, respectively) as well as allophycocyanins (0.102 and 0.171 mg/mL, respectively). In addition, the data about the pigment content could be used as a biochemical marker for taxonomic purposes within the group.
蓝细菌是独特的原核生物,能够进行产氧光合作用。在这些生物体中,藻胆体(PBS)充当光合色素装置的天线。藻胆体包含几种藻胆蛋白(PBP):藻红蛋白(PE)、藻蓝蛋白(PC)、别藻蓝蛋白(APC)和藻红青蛋白(PEC)。近年来,藻胆蛋白在生物技术、食品工业和医学中的应用正在迅速增加。我们研究的目的是评估保存在普罗夫迪夫藻类培养物保藏中心(PACC)的14株蓝细菌菌株和从自养生物培养物保藏中心(CCALA)购买的4株菌株中藻红蛋白、藻蓝蛋白、别藻蓝蛋白和藻红青蛋白的定性和定量含量。我们的数据表明,三株集胞藻属(PACC 5505、PACC 5522和PACC 5527)具有产生藻红蛋白的高潜力(分别为0.132、0.201和0.136 mg/mL)。同样,一株集胞藻属菌株(PACC 5522)和一株聚球藻属菌株(CCALA 084)适合用于生物技术生产藻蓝蛋白(分别为0.051和0.264 mg/mL)以及别藻蓝蛋白(分别为0.102和0.171 mg/mL)。此外,关于色素含量的数据可用作该类群内分类学目的的生化标记。
