Abstract

OBJECTIVE

This study aimed to determine the antibacterial and antibiofilm effects of amoxicillin combined with extract of L. leaves against and .

MATERIALS AND METHODS

This was an experimental laboratory study with a posttest-only control group design. An antibacterial test using the plate count method and an antibiofilm test using the microtiter plate biofilm assay method were conducted. The research samples comprised extract of L. leaves with a concentration of 100%; amoxicillin and extract concentrations of 3.125%, 6.25%, 12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%; and amoxicillin. Dimethyl sulfoxide served as a negative control and co-amoxiclav served as a positive control.

RESULTS

The combination of amoxicillin and the extract exhibited an antibacterial effect against at a concentration of 12.5% and higher and more effective than co-amoxiclac at a concentration of 3.125% and higher. In the antibiofilm test, the combination of amoxicillin and the extract at a concentration of 25% after 1 h of incubation and a concentration of 6.25% after 3 h of incubation inhibited . The inhibition of biofilms at a concentration of 100% after 24 h of incubation was as effective as that of co-amoxiclav. The extract at a concentration of 25% over the entire incubation period showed more potent inhibition against the biofilm than co-amoxiclav.

CONCLUSIONS

The ethanolic extract of L. leaves and the combination of amoxicillin and the extract have the potential to inhibit the growth and formation of and biofilms.

目的

本研究旨在确定阿莫西林与[植物名称]叶提取物联合使用对[细菌名称1]和[细菌名称2]的抗菌及抗生物膜作用。

材料与方法

这是一项采用仅后测对照组设计的实验性实验室研究。进行了使用平板计数法的抗菌试验和使用微量滴定板生物膜检测法的抗生物膜试验。研究样本包括浓度为100%的[植物名称]叶提取物;阿莫西林以及浓度为3.125%、6.25%、12.5%、25%、50%和100%的提取物与阿莫西林的组合;还有阿莫西林。二甲基亚砜用作阴性对照,克拉维酸阿莫西林用作阳性对照。
