Abstract

In experiments on male albino rats cyclophosphamide (100-250 mg/kg) was shown to produce a hepatic lesion presented with the increase in the activity of alanine- and aspartate aminotransferase of blood serum, and the inhibition of secretion of bile, bile acids and bilirubin. In addition, the drug possesses prooxidant properties: at the doses of 10-250 mg/kg it promotes an increase in the content of malon dialdehyde and diene conjugates in the liver, kidneys, myocardium and lungs. The prooxidant properties of cyclophosphamide were suggested to play an important role in its toxicity.
